The Many Ways of Eliminating Stretch Marks
Stretch marks are one of the most annoying blemishes that can form on the skin. Aside from being really ugly to look at, they are also very hard to prevent. Some of these are even formed while you were not yet conscious about your body as you were still too young, as these are usually formed during puberty. Other marks are may be formed during pregnancy and these are also very hard to prevent.
In addition to being hard to prevent, stretch marks are also harder to get rid off than regular scars. This is because they form on the dermal layer of the skin. When the skin stretches past its limit, this layer is the one damage thus healing will cause scars to form in this area. In this position, these scars are also much harder to remove as you have to go through the upper layer of the skin before you can reach the scar.
Since there is a high demand for procedures that can get rid of scars and other blemishes on the skin, many ways have been developed to get rid of them. One of the most popular methods is through the use of scar removal creams. It is popular as this method is very easy to do and is not very expensive. Since stretch marks are also considered as scars, a lot of people have resorted to using these on their marks as well.
Unfortunately, scar removal creams may not be very effective as they only target the surface of the skin. It might be better to use creams which are made especially for these marks as they can target the cells in the underlying layer of the skin. This will stimulate cell regeneration so that older cells and scar tissue may be replaced by younger ones.
Even though creams are the most popular choice when it comes to eliminating scars, they are not really the most effective. One of the best ways to get rid of scars is by laser treatments. These work by burning away the scar tissue left on the skin so that they may be replaced by newer cells.
Microdermabrasion and cosmetic surgeries are also effective ways of completely removing any scar. Similar to laser treatment, these two procedures also work by completely removing the scar. Microdermabrasion uses mechanical or chemical means to remove the scar, while cosmetic surgery also takes out the scar tissue left behind similar to laser treatments.
Others may still try home remedies to get rid of stretch marks. The most popular method used is the application of cocoa butter on the affected area. Other also use supplements of Vitamin A and E which are also needed by the skin. Lastly, another method that some people also use is the massaging of healing wounds, wherein they believe that scar tissue will be broken down so that they would not form any visible scars in the future.
Stretch marks may be hard to prevent but there are still ways that you can use to get rid of those that have already formed on your skin. The more expensive procedures are more effective in completely getting rid of scars, while the cheaper methods may lighten your scars making them quite invisible.
